About the Keyto program
Is your program only for diabetics? I'm not diabetic but I do want to lose weight.
No, our program is for anyone who is motivated to lose weight, decrease their risk factors for chronic medical conditions or to improve or even reverse their type 2 diabetes.
Do I need to buy any supplements or products?
No! You don’t need to take any supplements or special products as part of our program. Our goal is to get you to enjoy eating real, whole foods.
Do I need to count calories or follow a point system?
Definitely not! We will teach you what you need to know about the foods you should be eating, and how much of it to eat.
Will I need to follow a low-calorie diet?
Absolutely not! Several scientific studies have shown that reduced or low calorie diets are not effective long term. People will often lose weight on them initially, as with most diets, but the body adapts by decreasing the number of calories it uses, and the end result is putting back not only the weight lost, but then some. This is how that vicious yo-yo cycle gets established.
Do I need to be hungry all the time to lose weight?
Not at all! The idea is to eat as much as you want until you’re full at meal times, and eat only when you’re hungry. In fact, most patients that follow similar programs, especially if they have followed low calorie diets before, are often shocked at how full they feel by what they’re eating.
Are the kind of foods I will need to buy expensive?
It is absolutely possible to follow our program on a limited budget. We’ll show you how.
Do I really need to attend the introductory session?
Yes! This is where you will learn everything you need to know to be able to succeed at losing weight, and if applicable, reversing your diabetes.
Is it possible that I may not be a candidate for the program?
Yes. Our physicians will evaluate your medical history to ensure that you will be able to follow our program safely. We will also evaluate your motivation for participating in our program. If you are not truly motivated, or are not prepared to change your habits, we suggest waiting until such a time when you will be able to succeed.
Are you sure this program is healthy?
Absolutely! Our approach is based entirely on science. Many studies have proven the effectiveness and safety of our program. As a matter of fact, many people around the world follow this way of life with great results. We are happy to provide you with a list of relevant studies if you would like.
I've tried every diet out there - why is this program different?
Quite simply, diets don’t work. There is no quick fix, and our program is designed to be a way of life. It is meant to fit with your busy schedule, whether it is eating out, travelling or just on the go.
I'm often traveling and have to eat out frequently. Will I still be able to follow the program?
Absolutely! It is very easy to eat at restaurants while on this program. We will teach you what you need to know to make the right choices when dining out.
How much does your program cost?
The initial consultation is $175.00.* If you are a candidate for our program you can then enroll in the full six month program at a cost of $799.00 (plus tax) and the initial consultation fee of $175.00 is deducted. This fee includes all consultations, sessions and program material.
*All visits with a physician are covered by Medicare.
Weight loss
How long will it take for me to lose weight and improve my blood sugar level?
The beneficial effects of our program can start to be seen as early as the first week in the majority of patients. It is important to remember though that diabetes doesn’t develop overnight, so it takes time to reverse it.
How much weight can I lose on your program?
That depends on your current weight. In general, most patients are able to reach a healthy weight and more importantly, are able to maintain it.
Once I reach a healthy weight, how will I be able to maintain it?
One of the fundamental aspects of our program is to teach patients how to change their way of eating so that it becomes a way of life. This is not a fad diet or a quick fix. To maintain your weight and to maintain the other health benefits, you will need to keep using what you will learn in the program.
I’ve got a lot of weight to lose, and I am overwhelmed. I don’t know where to start.
You’re already on your way by looking into our program. We’ve been in your shoes, and we know the struggles all too well. We will help to guide you every step of the way through the process of safe weight loss, and better health.
Diabetes and medical conditions
I’m on medications for my diabetes and blood pressure. Will there be a doctor available to help manage any changes to my medication on your program?
Of course. Our program is run by a team of health professionals, including physicians. If any adjustments are necessary, one of our physicians will meet with you to ensure you are taking the right doses.
I’m diabetic and I take several medications as well as insulin. Is it really possible that I may not need all this in the future?
This is one of the goals of our program! Many patients who follow a program like this are successful in helping to treat their diabetes, and as a result, are able to reduce or stop taking most, if not all of their medications, including insulin.
Can people with high blood pressure, polycystic ovaries or metabolic syndrome follow this program?
There are several chronic medical conditions that can be improved by our program. PCOS, hypertension and metabolic syndrome are good examples.
